New Jaguar XE: First interior view & new Infotainment
Tue, 19 Aug 2014The new Jaguar XE’s interior and new InControl Infotainment.
The new Jaguar XE will be revealed on 8 September, and Jaguar has been busy teasing us with titbits of information on their new BMW 3-Series competitor, for example its lightweight aluminium structure and impressive economy. And today it’s time for a first look at the interior layout and details on a new Infotainment system.
The Jaguar XE is the first car from Jaguar Land Rover to get the new JLR Infotainment system – InControl – which should finally see JLR’s Infotainment match – or surpass – the more sophisticated systems in competitors cars.
Built from scratch, InControl gets an 8″ screen (yes, it’s certainly smaller than others) with a touchscreen interface that gets full Smartphone integration – Apple IOS and Android – with bespoke Apps and the ability to create an in-car wi-fi hotspot for devices.
InControl even comes with its own remote control which allows owners to connect to their XE remotely, controlling the HVAC, unlocking (or locking), start the engine, find the XE in a car park or even track it remotely should it be stolen.
Also on offer is a new laser head-up display (HUD) which projects a sharp, high definition image on the windscreen detailing driver information – speed, SatNav etc – with little distraction.
Mike Bell, Jaguar’s Global Connected Car Director, said:
In-car technologies in this ever-more connected and fast-paced world are an integral part of your driving experience. With the all-new XE we’re introducing an entire suite of cutting-edge driver aids and entertainment systems.
Designed and developed from scratch, they will ensure that every journey you take is simpler, more relaxing, safer, and effortlessly enjoyable.
The new Jaguar XE – complete with its new InControl system – will be revealed on 8 September 2014.
