The new Mercedes C-Class for 2014 was revealed in December – looking like a proper baby S-Class – and now we get the specifications and prices for the UK market ahead of its arrival in Mercedes showrooms. To start, there will be just two engines available – 2.0 litre four-cylinder petrol in the C200 and 2.1 litre four-cylinder diesel in the C220 BlueTec – and a choice of six-speed manual and 7-speed auto boxes and three trim levels – SE, Sport and AMG Line.
Mercedes say the new C-Class will be the best equipped in its sector, and all models come with a touchpad to control the Infotainment functions, Climate, Media Interface and Artico upholstery.
There’s also plenty of standard technology on offer too with a reversing camera, auto wipers, Attention Assist, Cruise, heated windscreen washers, Tyre Pressure Monitoring and Collision Prevention Assist Plus all fitted.
Equipment improves as you move up through the range with the Sport model upgrading the SE’s 16″ alloys to 17″ and also getting LED headlights, lowered copmfort suspension, chrome exterior trim and Garmin NAV whilst the AMG Line goes further still with 18″ AMG alloys, AMG bodykit and steering wheel, sports suspension and Artico on the dashboard.
The new C-Class will also offer Agility Select – a choice of Comfort, Eco, Sport, Sport+ and Individual modes – depending on your mood and road conditions which will also firm up the suspension in Sport if you opt for the optional AIRMATIC suspension.
As you’d expect, there are plenty of option packs to encourage you to spend more on your new C-Class, with the Executive Pack on the SE (costs £995) adding Garmin SatNav, heated front seats and folding back seatsand the Driving Assistance Package on the Sport and AMG Line (£1495) which adds Distroni Plus, Blind Spot Assist and Lane Keep Assist.
If you’re looking for extra comfort and convenience you can also add the Premium Pack (£1595 on the Sport and AMG Line which gives you an electric panoramic glass roof, memory front seats, ambient lighting, keyless go and power boot.
If you want to have the whole kit and caboodle Mercedes are also offering the Premium Plus Pack (£2795) which also adds in COMAND and a 500W Burmester Sound System.
First deliveries of the C200 and C220 Bluetech will arrive in June 2014 ( theC 200 BlueTEC, C 250 BlueTEC and C 300 BlueTEC HYBRID will arrive later in the year).
