New Mercedes E63 AMG: The Video

With the 2013 Mercedes E63 AMG freshly launched, we have the first video of Mercedes’ new E-Class range-topper.

Now we have the first video for the new E63 AMG, with a regular E63 AMG and a 4MATIC E63 AMG in the first video promo for the new, and more powerful, range-topper.

Sadly, we in the UK won’t be getting the option of 4WD on the E63 AMG, which you may think isn’t the end of the world. And it’s not. But it is a bit of a let-down.

Purists will claim the RWD E63 AMG is the ‘proper’ car, with its ‘proper’ handling, but because the E63 has so much power – and so much torque – the 4WD actually makes the E63 much quicker.

The regular E63 – which comes with 549bhp – can get to 62mph in 4.2 seconds, but add the 4MATIC in to the mix and that time drops to 3.7 seconds. But we won’t have the option.

And we’re expecting the new E63 AMG S, which Mercedes are trumpeting has a 0-62mph of 3.6 seconds, to actually be just 0.1 seconds quicker at 4.1 seconds in the UK as we won’t get the 4MATIC on the E63 S either.

So, it looks like those wanting out and out performance (and 4WD) will have to buy the 2013 Audi RS6 Avant instead.
