New Peugeot 308 now on sale in the UK

The new Peugeot 308 was revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show back in September, and Peugeot revealed full specs and prices for the 308 in October ahead of it going on sale in the UK. Which it now has. And actually, the new 308 does seem to promise real competition for the stalwarts in its sector – the Ford Focus and VW Golf – with a wide range of engine options, decent looks and prices that start at just £14,495.
Economy is strong too with economy of up to 91.1mpg and emissions as low as 82g/km thanks in no small part to Peugeot’s new Efficient Modular Platform bringing the new 308 in at up to 140kg less than the old model.
Early indications are that residuals will be much stronger than the previous 308 – up 9 per cent say CAP – which will help PCP and lease sales, and lower tax bandings will help company sales too.
There’s a choice of four trim levels - Access (from £14,495), Active (from £17,195), Allure (from £18,645) and Feline (from £20,995) – and the promise of a performance 308 R on the horizon.
Peugeot boss, Tim Zimmerman, said:
The New 308 is a significant leap forward for Peugeot. It’s high on style and quality and provides a truly rewarding driving experience, all at a value-for-money price. We’re confident it will be a big hit with UK customers.
The new 308 seems a strong offering from Peugeot – it’s even on the short list for 2014 European Car of the Year - so if you’re in the market for a car in this sector you really should make the effort to take a proper look at the 308 before you take the default Golf or Focus.
