New Range Rover Sport gets Best 4×4 Award from 4×4 Magazine

The all new Range Rover Sport finally gives Land Rover a sporty model that offers what its name says – a sporty 4×4. But it’s not just that the new Range Rover Sport can do the properly sporty on-road bit properly, it’s that it’s able to do so without sacrificing any of the off-road prowess that’s made Land Rover’s name.
That’s been demonstrated by the award by 4×4 Magazine of their best overall 4×4 gong for 2014, knocking its full size sibling – the new Range Rover – in to second place.
4×4 Magazine decided that the new Sport offers an unbeatable combination of abilities, giving particular comment on the new Terrain response II off-road system which they said was capable of tackling all kinds of off-road scenarios.
4×4′s editor, Nigel Fryatt, said:
The Range Rover Sport is a worthy winner of the prestigious 2014 4×4 of the Year award. Indeed it is such a significant vehicle that you wonder if it is the best product ever to come from the Land Rover stable, of any era.
But it wasn’t just the new Sport that came in for praise (and the new Range Rover in second place in the Premium Category), but the Evoque got top gong in the ‘Top Range’ class and the Defender was highly commended in the Hardcore Class.
All great news, but you do start to wonder if the new Range Rover Sport’s prowess – and its lower price – might impact on sales of the full-size Range Rover.
