New Renault Megane Estate – a Sport Tourer
Thu, 04 Jun 2009Details on the Renault Megane Estate released
We think this might be a bit of a Marmite’ car – love it or hate bit. To our eyes it looks pretty stylish, following the current style for swoopy estates (or Sport Tourers) in the mould of cars like Vauxhall’s new Insignia Sports Tourer.
The Megane Estate comes in a bewildering array of models and engine sizes, with a total of fourteen engines on offer. There are four versions of the 1.5 litre dci, with outputs ranging from 85bhp to 110bhp; the 1.9 litre dci with 130bp and the 2,0 liter with 150bhp or 160bhp.
Petrol engines include the 1.4 litre TCe (turbo) with 130bhp; the 1.6 litre in either 110bhp or 100bhp and the 2.0 litre CVT with 140bhp.
The sloping roofline looks more pronounced than it actually is, and although the roof does slope towards the back there is still good headroom in the rear. The front of the car is pure Megane, but the rear end has been extensively modified, and the whole car sits on an extended wheelbase with a bigger rear overhang.
No word on UK prices yet.
