New Saab 9-5 Revealed
Mon, 29 Jun 2009The new Saab 9-5 (2010) will launch at Frankfurt in September
The new Saab 9-5 is very overdue. The current model is now 12 years old, and long due for replacement. But GM’s problems and now Saab’s takeover by Koenigsegg have conspired to delay the new 9-5, but it now looks clear that it will launch officially at Frankfurt in September.
Based on the same GM platform as the new Vauxhall Insignia , the new Saab 9-5 will be stretched and tweaked to produce a 5 metre long car with a more premium feel. Engines are likely to include a bio-fuel option and offer four-pot petrol and diesel versions. The likely range topper will be a 4WD 3.6 litre V6 turbo with around 325bhp.
The new Saab 9-5 Estate is a cracking looking car
Saab need the 9-5 to work for them, and if these renderings are right they’ve produced a good-looking Saab which should sell well. The estate in particular is a very good looking car and does reflect Saab’s style despite the constraints of the Insignia underpinnings.
Real announcements tend to follow up these sorts of leaks,m so we’llk probably have more confirmation from Saab on details in the next few days.
