New VW Tiguan R-Line arrives in the UK

Volkswagen UK has announced that the new Tiguan R-Line is now available in the UK priced from £28,020.

The new Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line – a sportier cosmetic take on VW’s compact SUV come crossover – was actually revealed almost a year ago, but it’s take VW UK since then to get round to offering it in the UK. Still, better late than never.

The R-Line package for the new Tiguan makes VW’s slightly bland-looking Tiguan a lot more appealing; it may not go any quicker but it does look a lot more enticing.

There are no engine upgrades for the Tiguan R-Line, but the cosmetic add-ons are worthwhile. Based on the Tiguan SE in the UK, the R-Line gets a set of 18″ alloys – painted silver and housed under wheelarch extensions – a spoiler at the back and some new butch bumpers front and back.

Inside, the Tiguan R-Line gets sports seats in the front with two-tone upholstery and ‘R-Line’ logos on the headrests, leather steering wheel and stainless steel pedals. R-Line logos abound inside and out.

Engine choice for the R-Line is limited to the Tiguan’s three most powerful iterations with 4MOTION 4WD – 2.0 litre TSI 210PS, and the 2.0 litre TDI with either 140 or 170 pS.

The Tiguan R-Line 2.0-litre TSI 210 PS with a manual ‘box will cost from £28,435, the 140 PS TDI BlueMotion from £28,020 and the 170 PS TDI from £28,700.
