New Volvo V40 gets record-breaking Euro NCAP score
Wed, 29 Aug 2012The new Volvo V40 has been given a 5 Star rating by Euro NCAP, in the process getting the best result ever recorded.
If a Volvo can’t get a 5 Star rating in the Euro NCAP tests then Volvo’s USP is in trouble.
So the news that the new V40 got a 5 Star rating in the latest round of tests comes as no surprise. But in the process the V40 scored the highest ever rating in the tests.
But Volvo didn’t just get a record-breaking overall score, it scored best ever results in more than one of the four tested categories.
The Volvo V40′s protection for adults was rated at 98 per cent, an all time high and a remarkable result for a compact car and underpinned by systems which include Volvo’s WHIPS whiplash protection.
The V40 scored 100 per cent in the Safety Assist category thanks to the expected raft of Volvo safety stuff including Pedestrian Detection and BLIS and scored a new record in the Pedestrian Protection category thanks, in no small part, to Volvo’s very clever Pedestrian Airbag.
All of which is very worthy and reassuring if you’re going to drive round in the new V40. But actually, it’s just the icing on the new Volvo V40, a car that is perhaps the best looking Volvo for a generation and promises much.
