Nissan 370Z GT Edition launched
Wed, 18 May 2011The black or white Nissan 370Z GT Edition
It’s not always the first thing that springs to mind when you think about Nissan, but they have had a fair chunk of success in GT racing, going all the way back to the ’70s.
So with the ‘Limited Edition’ being one of the car makers’ favourite marketing tools, there is a certain logic in looking back to the ’70s for inspiration for the latest limited edition Nissan 370Z – the Nissan 370Z GT Edition.
For those old enough – or for Nissan Z Car nutters – the retro graphic on the side will bring to mind the early Datsun 240Z. The grey GT stripes run along the flanks of the car and contrast with the three colour choices – Pearl White, Kuro Black and Black Rose – and the dark anthracite 19″ Rays.
Nissan’s engineers in Europe have also had a play with the GT Edition’s chassis, in particular the dampers have been tweaked to provide a balance more focused on speed, and in particular handling at speed
In terms of toys, Nissan has thrown in the Premium Connect SatNav system, which also incorporates a rear-view camera – tyre pressure monitoring and a new ‘Snow’ mode on the seven-speed auto ‘box
Nothing to get too excited about, but it’s a decent package on an already decent car. You can order a 370Z GT Edition now at £35,000 with first deliveries due in June.
