Nissan Extrem concept bows at Sao Paulo auto show

Wild concepts during auto shows are nothing new, especially from Nissan.
The automaker is adding to its reputation with the Extrem small crossover, which debuted recently at the Sao Paulo auto show.
The Extrem is wild, but we could easily see it going into production, though Nissan's given no indication of such.
The orange crossover, nicknamed “Baby Beast,” has a 2+2 setup and a shape similar to the Range Rover Evoque. Nissan says the design inspiration came from Brazilian landscapes, people and culture.
The ground clearance suggests strength, according to Nissan, and the sharply sloping roof shows its sporting intentions. Six-spoke, 19-inch wheels are layered with dark inner and brushed metal outer features.
The Extrem concept also has a practical side. Besides offering a two-tiered cargo space in the rear, it has cleats on the roof near A-pillars for a roof rack. Headlights and taillights are LEDs, while an aluminum skid plate protects the underside. Flush-mounted door handles and integrated side markers complete the package.
The color, called Solar Cortex, is meant to pay homage to Brazilian nature. Body-color accents are found on the gas cap, tow hooks and wheels.
Nissan says the Extrem's power would be provided by the 1.6-liter, direct-injected, turbocharged motor used in the Nissan DeltaWing race car and in the Juke.
Nissan says the Extrem was built to accept both front- and all-wheel-drive powertrains, as well as its torque vectoring technology.
