The Nissan Invitation concept previews the 2013 Note MPV

Nissan has revealed the Nissan Invitation Concept – which will debut at the Geneva Motor Show – and previews the 2013 Nissan Note.

The current Nissan Note is a competent enough compact MPV, but it’s a bit beige. But if the Nissan Invitation Concept unveiled this afternoon is anything to go by, the 2013 Nissan Note will be a lot funkier.

With far more aggressive lines, sharp creases and a hint of the Juke going on, the Nissan Invitation looks a much more appealing car than the current Note.

Inside the Innovation looks to cut the mustard too, with clear styling lines, a fuss-free console and some nice styling cues, although how much of this is concept fodder and how much is heading for production remains to be seen.

Nissan are promising class-leading performance from the new Note with emissions below 100g/km in the eco versions, agile handling and good driving dynamics. We’re also promised ‘Big Car’ toys like all-round cameras from Nissan’s Around View Monitor and Nissan’s Safety Shield.

Engines seem likely to be taken from the current Note, which will mean 1.4 and 1.6 litre petrol engines and Nissan’s 1.5 litre diesel, although by the time the new Note arrives that could change. It could also include Nissan’s new 3-pot supercharged 1.2 litre DIG-S lump which delivers 97bhp.

No doubt we’ll learn a little more when the Nissan Invitation Concept debuts at Geneva in a few weeks.
