Nissan Juke-R build continues with GT-R gearbox and drivetrain: Video
Mon, 07 Nov 2011
We know the project: Putting a GT-R powertrain into a Nissan Juke. We've talked about the transfer of technology. We've seen the early stages of the build, and last week we saw Nissan marry the heart of the GT-R to the chassis of the Juke. This week, we get to watch the gearbox and four-wheel-drive-system installation.
From a layman's standpoint, this seems to be most difficult part. The wheelbases of the two cars are 250 millimeters different. That means shortening both driveshafts, one going forward and one back, and relocating mounting points all over the vehicle.
Nissan wants the driving experience to be similar to seat time in the GT-R--just as aggressive, just as technical and just as insane.
Next week the company will make sure that all of the controls are easily reachable from the driver's seat, which means a dive into the exciting realm of ergonomics! Stay tuned.
