Nissan Juke – the production Qazana

The Nissan Qazana Concept was previewed last Spring at the Geneva Motor Show and – despite its rather outlandish looks – was something of a hit. It had originality and seemed to hit the mood of the moment. Something at least brodering on original in a compact crossover.

And it pretty soon became clear that Nissan were going to put the Qazana in to production sooner rather than later after showing the workforce at Nissan in Sunderland what their future looked like – and it looked Qazana shaped.

But we all thought Nissan would stick with the Qazana name for the production car. After all, it’s no more barking than Qashqai and it starts with a ‘Q’, so why not? But they’ve decided that it will in fact be the Nissan Juke.

Nissan has revealed the teaser picture you see above this morning of the Juke and told us what we pretty much knew, that it will debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March, go in to production this Summer (in Sunderland) and launch in Europe in October.

And on the face of it – at least as much as we can see in the picture – much of the Qaazana’s funky-ness comes through.

But we’ll have to wait until 10th February for the official detail. Unless it leaks. Which it may well.
