Nissan Pivo 3 concept (w/ Video)
Wed, 09 Nov 2011The Nissan Pivo 3 will make its world debut at the Tokyo motor show later this month. You may remember the previous Pivo concepts featured a rotating, spherical cabin, which sat atop a square base whose four wheels allowed it to move in any direction. This Pivo is different in that its cabin is fixed and also (relatively) more car-like, with a design language that is now recognizably Nissan.
The unique maneuverability of the previous cars has been partially retained, with a much-simplified four-wheel steering system, which allows it to perform U-turns in just four meters. Smart tech includes an 'Automated Parking Valet' that can park and charge the car automatically while you hit the shops or head to the office and then drive itself back to meet you on your return.
"Pivo is one of the answers for active urbanists living in mature markets," Nissan's design division explains, "Through the three Pivo proposals, we have gained a deep understanding of their needs in such large, metropolitan areas."
