Nissan cuts the price of the Micra to £7,995

Thu, 11 Oct 2012

The Nissan Micra is getting a price cut in the UK, with the entry-level Micra dropping to just £7,995 and price cuts across the Micra range.

That means the entry-level Micra 1.2 12v Visia comes down form a not exactly bargain basement £9,750 to a much more appealing £7,995. And Nissan hasn’t done it by cutting equipment levels, as they say every model still gets the same level of equipment, including Bluetooth.

Price drops across the range see the Micra Acenta starting at £9,995 (was £11,250), and even the special edition Micra Elle (pictured above) with its extra toys drops in price from £11,995 to £11,195.

Not only has Nissan dropped the price of the Elle, they’re chucking in finance deals from just £99 a month and you can add in three years servicing for a very reasonable £199.

All of which starts to make the Nissan Micra look a bit of a bargain. But the drop in price is something we called for a year ago when Nissan were reporting sales for the Micra down nearly 10 per cent after a lack of a diesel engine put many buyers off looking at the Micra and quality issues hurt perceptions of the Micra’s reliability.

We suggested then that as Micra production has moved from Sunderland to Chennai that Nissan should be selling the Micra at a lower price or improve its quality with the extra margins they must have.

So a price drop for the Micra it is.
