Nissan teases new 2013 Pathfinder ahead of Detroit debut
Tue, 20 Dec 2011New Nissan Pathfinder Tease - in the shadows
There’s a new Nissan Pathfinder on the way for 2013, and Nissan are teasing the concept they’re taking to the Detroit Auto Show.
The current Nissan Pathfinder isn’t the biggest seller in the world. It’s a boxy, old-school seven seat SUV that manages to mop up a few sales from those who want a Discovery but can’t afford one. It’s not a bad SUV, just a bit behind the times. But Nissan has a fix for that with an all new Pathfinder heading to showrooms for 2013.
Ahead of the launch of the new Pathfinder in late 2012, Nissan are taking an ‘almost as it will look when it comes out’ concept to the Detroit Motor Show in January. Which explains why we’ve got the dark and dismal teaser shot of the Pathfinder in our inbox.
Perhaps most of what’s wrong with the current Pathfinder is in how it looks. It’s not actually any more boxy than the Disco, but somehow it seems it. So if the teaser photo we’ve got is anything to go by, the new Pathfinder looks to be a lot more flowing than the current model to address that problem.
Nissan are saying that the new Pathfinder takes all that’s good in the current model – which is quite a bit – and wraps it in a new platform and new aerodynamic body. Which probably means we’ll see the Pathfinder moving to a unibody construction which should make it better on road. Which is good news, just as long as it doesn’t make it poorer off-road in the process.
