Novitec ups the ante on the Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale

The Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale might be leading in the vowels-per-word category, but on power it's slightly down--especially when you put it next to its Italian brethren. German tuner Novitec has a 646-hp solution for that.
The Novitec Tridente, built off the MC Stradale platform, gets a belt-driven supercharger, a bigger intake manifold, larger injectors and new engine-software mapping. The upgrades move the 0-to-62-mph time down to 3.9 seconds and the top speed to 190 mph. An optional taller gearing package raises that speed to 205 mph. Torque grows to 460 lb-ft.
A water-to-air intercooler has a dedicated water circuit with two heat exchangers for optimal air temperature. Maximum boost pressure is limited to 6.2 psi.
To add even more cool air to the mix, Novitec installs a custom hood with a central air scoop and two air vents. For those looking to shed a few more pounds, a carbon-fiber version is offered.
Other than the hood, the body of the MC Stradale is mostly unchanged. Novitec upgrades the production exhaust system with black-coated or polished tailpipes measuring 4.1 inches in diameter.
Three-piece Novitec Tridente NM3 wheels are bolted on with 21-inch, five-spokes up front and 22s in the back. Novitec says the staggered layout of the wheels adds to the Stradale's wedge look. The ride is lowered by one inch with progressive sport springs that add even more agility to the package.
The company also offers interior customizations. Owners can get their vehicles in whatever color they want with almost any material. Of course, that's extra.
The Tridente conversion is available from Novitec at a cost of $31,851 at current exchange rates from the euro--on top of the $143,400 price of the MC Stradale.
