One Lap of the Web: Barn-find Packards, a vintage Skyline racer and ultra-rare Ford Torino Talledegas
Mon, 28 Oct 2013
-- Who doesn't love a good barn find from time to time? Here's a 1929 Packard Model 633 Runabout stashed in a shed in the Adirondacks for half a century that, in true Cinderella fashion, went on to win best in show after a bit of dusting off. Heartwarming.
-- Continuing its noble quest to bring knowledge of obscure muscle cars to the general public, Hooniverse presents 1969 Ford Torino Talladega for sale. Basically a homologation special, fewer than 800 were ever produced; each car got a modified front nose (like the Daytona/Superbird) and a 427 engine. The asking price for this blue example? $25,000.
-- Based in Murray, Utah, JDM Legends specializes in bringing rare Japanese cars to the States and then skilfully restoring -- or restomodding -- them for clients. The results are universally tasty, as this 1967 Prince Skyline 2000GT-B demonstrates. If you've never given classic Japanese cars -- let alone classic Japanese race cars -- a second glance, this race-liveried Skyline might open your eyes.
