One Lap of the Web: Bonneville Salt Flats, Suzuki concepts and Porsches for all
Fri, 25 Oct 2013
Petrolicious is hanging with Bob Sirna, Bonneville Salt Flats competitor, and his Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing. Sirna has been coming to Bonneville for the last 12 years with his SL, which is probably more suited to a museum stand. Sirna likes to say, “Enjoy your toys,” but we hope he has a nice coat of Rustoleum on there.
A couple of wild Suzuki concepts were revealed today for the Tokyo Motor Show. World Car Fans has the story and the pictures. The Crosshiker compact crossover, X-Lander concept and orange Hustler will all join the company's stand at the show, since the vehicles won't come here any time soon, this might be your only chance to check them out.
An Aetna blue 1961 Porsche 356 is on sale through our friends at Bring a Trailer. It's being sold out of Vallejo, Calif., for $55,000. The car has been converted to 12-volt and has disc brakes. The engine was rebuilt in 2007 and only 8,000 miles have been driven since then.
Speaking of Porsches, FlatSixes is reviewing how to take care of and store your Porsche for the winter. The list includes things like making sure your fluids have the proper antifreeze, tending the battery and sticking a tennis ball in your exhaust and closing the vents to keep critters out. There's about 20 more ideas over at FlatSixes, so check it out.
