One Lap of the Web: Cutaway F1 cars, Bugatti's Blue Dream and building your own paint booth
Mon, 15 Apr 2013
We spend a lot of time on the Internet -- pretty much whenever we're not driving, writing about or working on cars. Since there's more out there than we'd ever be able to cover, here's our daily digest of car stuff on the Web you may not otherwise have heard about.
-- Sauber Motorsports invites you to take a look under the skin in their Cutaway Insights YouTube series. Take a look at episode one here and prepare to be blown away by what's packed inside that F1 body.
-- The BMW M3 sits on a lot of enthusiasts' wish lists, but are there more accessible alternatives? Everyday Driver thinks so, and we agree with their selections as they pit the Boss Mustang and 1M against the outgoing M3.
-- The Wall Street Journal looks at the extreme garage trend in which the garage can cost more than the house (which usually already costs a ridiculous amount). Sounds fine to us.
-- Never heard of the Bugatti "Blue Dream"? It's an airplane, in much the same way a Type 41 is a car ... an insane-for-its-time gorgeous example of the breed. The never-flown original is tucked away in a museum, but a Blue Dream replica is underway, partially funded by Kickstarter money.
-- Finally, one for the DIYers: Jay Leno takes a look at everything needed to set up a paint booth at home. Perfect for your two-story, 15,000 square-foot mega-garage!
