One Lap of the Web: Key chains, Jay Leno and the Ford Fiesta
Thu, 09 May 2013
We spend a lot of time on the Internet -- pretty much whenever we're not driving, writing about or working on cars. Since there's more out there than we'd ever be able to cover, here's our daily digest of car stuff on the Web you may not otherwise have heard about.
-- Speedhunters.com gives us a sneak peek of some photos in its #MaximumAttack book. If nothing else, take time to flip through these photos today -- they are beautiful and awe inspiring, and the author even gives some photography tips you can take to the track.
-- Ever wonder the history of the key chain? Yeah, neither have we, but it's actually kind of interesting. The Detroit News gives us a full timeline, but the basics are that they have been around for centuries, and there are now certified copoclephilists -- or key chain collectors – with collections that number in the 12,000s.
-- Watch Jay Leno take a beautifully maintained Morgan Plus 8 on the road with builder Jason Len of XKs Unlimited. The two give a good walkaround of the car -- including a look at its wooden underpinnings -- and then put it through its paces in chilly California.
-- What has a 1.0-liter, three-cylinder engine and is in a majority of UK garages? One of our favorite petite hatchbacks -- the Ford Fiesta. Auto Car looks at the UK's continued rise in the number of new car registrations.
