Opel hires 2011 CDN-Opel/Vauxhall Interactive Design Competition winner
Wed, 02 May 2012Opel has taken on the winner of last year's Car Design News – Opel/Vauxhall Interactive Design Competition, Victor Uribe, to work as the latest addition to its creative design team.
Uribe, a Transportation Design graduate from Istituto Europeo Di Design in Turin, Italy, emerged as the winner in the exterior design category for his submission, ‘Lounge in Motion', and won himself a six-month internship at the Opel/Vauxhall's European Design Studio in Rüsselsheim, Germany.
"I met fantastic people who taught me a lot and helped me to refine my design skills. I learned several things about the brand, and I was a witness of Opel's effort to be a leader in the future. For this reason I feel very honored and lucky to join such a big company", Uribe said.
He praised the competition and its ability to allow young designers to express themselves and push forwards into the automotive design world.
"This would not have been possible without the initiative of CDN and GM, to offer the opportunity to new designers. My advice for the competitors of the 2012 edition is to work hard, and to continue uploading your sketches, ideations, moodboards, because this helps the judges to understand how you think, and solve problems," he added.
