Peugeot 208 GTi price from £18,895
Mon, 28 Jan 2013Peugeot has revealed that the new 208 GTI will cost from £18,895, with the order book for the 208 GTi opening in March.
That price will be £18,895 – almost £2k more than the new Fiesta ST - and includes the usual GTi stuff like 17″ alloys, new grill, LED running lights, twin exhausts, leather and cloth upholstery, red trim details, DAB, rear parking and a smattering of GTi badges.
Peugeot also say that the 208 GTi has been fettled to make it a more sporty prospect than the standard 208, with retuned suspension and wider track.
Power for the 208 GTi comes from the same 200bhp 1.6 litre four-pot you’ll find in the Peugeot RCZ, which promises lively performance with a claimed 0-62mph of 6.8 seconds (0.1 seconds quicker than the cheaper Fiesta ST).
It’ll be interesting to see if the Peugeot 208 GTi manages to carve itself a sales niche (especially with the Fiesta ST a chunk cheaper and the new Clio RS on the way), but Peugeot did manage to flog all the limited edition 208 GTis they marketed as the ‘Early Special’ for a couple of grand more. Mind you, there were only 35 208 GTi Limited Editions to flog.
Order books for the new 208 GTi open in March, production starts in April and first customer GTis are expected to start arriving in May.
