Peugeot SR1 – the video
Sun, 24 Jan 2010The Peugeot SR1 Concept. Video below.
A couple of weeks ago we reported on a new concept car from Peugeot, destined to be shown at the Geneva Motor Show in March. But this wasn’t just any old Peugeot, with it’s rather lost styling and gaping mouth. This was a leap in to new territory for Peugeot – or maybe a rekindling of long lost design values – and even Peugeot said the new concept – the Peugeot SR1 – signposted the future for Peugeot.
And if this is a signpost to the future of Peugeot we think the future should be very rosy. The SR1 looks stunning – as we said before, very Aston Martin – and although we know that concepts tend not to survive intact in the move to production, Peugeot would be out of their tiny Gallic minds if they don’t take the SR1 to production.
Yes, we know some things on the SR1 will never make it in production form – the ‘Designer’ instruments and the odd seating arrangements, for example – but it’s the shape that’s glorious. Keep that and Peugeot are on to a winner.
Peugeot are claiming this as nothing but a concept that will never see the inside of a production line. Despite that we had the SR1 photos a couple of weeks ago, and now we get a video. True, it’s all CGI and graphics – no real car running around – but Peugeot are obviously chuffed with what they’ve created, and quite right to.
Maybe by the time the SR1 hits Geneva in March Peugeot will have decided the SR1 has a production future. They should.
