Just over a week ago we had a Black Edition Porsche revealed as on the way to Geneva – the Porsche 911 Black Edition. Today we get the Porsche Boxster S Black Edition.

We can but assume that either Porsche has stumbled on a job lot of black paint and leather, or the designer of their limited edition models is going through their dark phase.

Just like the 911 Black edition, the Boxster S Black Edition gets black everything – paint job, leather, dash, instruments… Unlike the 911 Black edition, the Boxster S Black Edition gets a hike in power – even if it is only 10bhp.

Porsche are building just 987 Boxster S Black Editions (the current Boxster is type 987), and in addition to blackness wherever your eye alight you do get some extra toys. Apart from the required badging there’s PCM with SatNav, MP3, Bluetooth and LED running lights.

That hike in power (can we really call 10bhp and 7lb/ft of torque a ‘hike’?) means a 0-62mph of 5.2 seconds, a whole 0.1 seconds quicker than the bog-standard Boxster S.

On show at Geneva and on sale in March for £47,426.
