Porsche introduces Panamera Platinum Edition

The Porsche Panamera is already one of the top executive sedans on the road today. But in case there's any doubt, the company has added a Platinum trim to the lineup, moving the vehicle even further upscale. It will be offered for both rear- or all-wheel drive versions.

The outside of the Panamera Platinum Edition is swathed in one of five basic exterior colors—black, white, basalt black and carbon gray metallic. The pictured car's color is called mahogany metallic. The lower portion of the side mirrors, grille, trim on the trunk and rear diffuser are all accented in Platinum silver.

Checking the Platinum Edition box on the order from will get you bixenon headlights with the Porsche Dynamic lighting system, parking assist and 19-inch Panamera Turbo wheels sporting the Porsche crest. A 300-hp V6 is the only engine offered.

Inside, the driver sees a new exclusive two-tone black/beige combination in partial leather, and full leather can be specified. The door and dashboard trim have been revised and Platinum Edition is sculpted in the front-door scuff plates.

As for tech, the Platinum Edition comes standard with navigation and premium sound. A seven-inch touchscreen controls the system, which has 585 watts of sound. Porsche's speed-sensitive steering is also standard.

The 2013 Porsche Panamera Platinum Edition will cost $81,475 while the Panamera 4 version will cost $85,575, including $975 in destination charges. Those prices are about five grand above the base models. The Platinum Edition will arrive at dealerships on Jan. 5.
