Porsche shows off 911 Carrera technology in new video

Porsche posted a video on its YouTube channel on Monday, and it nearly slipped right by us. It's a promotional piece that tries to make you want a new 911 Carrera. It does a good job.
Porsche driver Gordon Robertson explains some of the new technology in the Type 991 as he slides his way around corners on a wet Silverstone track. Between the engine sounds and a good amount of rear shots, the 911 makes an enviable first impression.
We've driven it, and if you're a Porschephile, we expect you'll be impressed. Robertson flogs the Carrera S for about three minutes in high definition on the British track.
The base Carrera sports a 3.4-liter flat-six boxer engine that produces 350 hp with 287 lb-ft of torque. The upgraded Carrera S gets a longer stroke, leading to a displacement of 3.6 liters and an output of 400 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed manual or a PDK transmission. Turbo, all-wheel-drive and targa models are soon to follow, while the cabriolet was just introduced at the Detroit auto show.
The 911 gets more efficient in its sixth iteration with stop/start technology, electronic power steering and a function that decouples the engine when coasting. In the video, Robertson says it will return 32 mpg on the highway, which we'd be inclined to believe as long as we weren't in the driver's seat.
Check out the video and start saving up those nickels. The Carrera has a sticker price of $83,050, while the S model comes in at $97,350.
