Price Announced For Super-Frugal Hybrid S-Class
Tue, 09 Sep 2014MERCEDES-BENZ has revealed prices for its high-tech S-Class plug-in hybrid model. The car, which boasts 100.9mpg and a 65g/km CO2 rating, will cost from £87,965 when it hits the showrooms later this month.
The car is aimed at buyers seeking to combine limousine space with city car running costs. Asking price aside, this new S 500 Plug-In Hybrid is London congestion charge exempt and attracts a modest five per cent Benefit In Kind business tax rate.
Equipment specifications are based on the conventional S 500 L AMG Line, and standard kit includes 19-inch AMG alloy wheels, AMG body styling for the front and rear bumpers, LED intelligent light system, COMAND Online, noise insulating glass, leather upholstery and front seat memory package.
Crucial to the car’s impressive economy performance is its V6 biturbo petrol engine which, together with an electric motor, produces a combined 442 horsepower.
Furthermore, the car can travel over 20 miles on purely electrical power. Once exhausted, the car’s battery can be fully charged from a public charging outlet in around two hours.
