Raging Artists gives its take on the minivan
Tue, 20 Sep 2011
What would a minivan commercial look like if it was made by minivan drivers instead of agency suits? A lot less boring than you'd think, as it turns out.
The Raging Artists public-relations firm created a strangely comedic video called “A Family Man is Still a Man” with a group of RA employees that owns four minivans among them. They contend that life doesn't have to end at 40.
Raging Artists says this isn't the cool side of the minivan as you've seen before in commercials--Toyota's “swagger wagon” campaign comes to mind. Raging Artist also stresses that this piece is not commissioned by any car company, though the firm happens to use a Honda Odyssey in the video.
The video uses the premise of a dad on a day off. He's tasked by his wife only with driving his kids to school and getting a car wash before the day is done. Dad happily agrees . . . and you'll have to watch the rest.
This is definitely a new take on the minivan commercial. It's aimed at men, for one, and it shows the wild side of the people carrier.
For its part, Raging Artists says “the spot is about living in the present, and that a family man can balance fun, adventure, chaos and cleanliness.”
