Renault Clio
Tue, 03 Jul 2012This is the new, fourth-generation Renault Clio and the first production car to feature the brand's new design language under Laurens van den Acker.
Its grille and lamp graphics are a clear relation to the Dezir concept first shown in Paris 2010, while the rear feature lines and lamps have shades of the Captur concept.
The new Clio will only be available in five-door format although its rear door handles are hidden in its C-pillars. This feature. Along with the generously blown fender surfaces and heavily sculpted rocker are promised to add the dynamism normally associated with three-door models. It features a lower ride height and wider tracks to add to this feeling.
"New Renault Clio was conceived as a piece of sensuous sculpture which stimulates desire. Like muscles, its curves express the dynamism radiated by the DeZir concept car," says Laurens van den Acker. "No acute or aggressive angles, just voluptuous curves that make you want to go up to it and caress it."
Inside, the IP form is inspired by an airplane wing and features an 180mm touchscreen with a market-first personalized home screen and an industry-first app store, called Renault R-Line Store. One app - Renault R-Sound Effect - simulates six different engine sounds via the car's sound system.
Other personalization options are offered by color highlights to the grille, door inserts, dashboard, door cards, steering wheel, grab handles, gear lever, air vent surrounds and upholstery.
The car will make its debut at the Paris motor show in September.
