Robbie Maddison, Levi LaValle break records at Red Bull New Year's Eve event: Video

Now that Red Bull has its hooves in all forms of motorsport, it's fitting that for New Year's Eve, it staged a tandem record-setting jump with a motorcycle and a snowmobile.
Rider Robbie Maddison and snowmobiler Levi LaValle took to the stage on Dec. 31, 2011, in San Diego to perform the dual jump. Maddison was trying to beat his long distance of 351 feet, three inches while LaValle was doing the same with his own record of 361 feet.
Both riders made their jumps successfully, leading to a new record for a motorcycle jump of 378 feet, nine inches and a new snowmobile record of 412 feet, six inches.
The point-of-view footage makes the jump even more impressive, with shots from both the center of the snowmobile and the ski. Maddison is in full view during the jump that would measure from goalpost to goalpost on a football field.
Last year's New Year's Eve event was canceled after LaValle crashed his snowmobile in testing. In prior years, the energy-drink company had Maddison jump from a ramp to the Arc de Triomphe in Las Vegas, Rhys Millen doing a backflip in an off-road truck and Travis Pastrana jumping 269 feet over water in Long Beach's Rainbow Harbor.
