Rolls Royce Ghost spotted at Dover

A virtually uncamouflaged Rolls Royce Ghost caught waiting for a ferry at Dover

We’ve seen the Rolls Royce Ghost (formerly known as the RR4 or EX200) out testing in various states of camouflage over the last few months. Finally, at the Geneva Motor Show, we got a proper look at the Ghost, and then, in April, Rolls Royce decided to tell us what we already knew back in February, that it was to be known as the Rolls Royce Ghost, to make a brace of ethereal model names for Rolls Royce, along with the Phantom.

So with Rolls Royce seemingly on target to launch the Rolls Royce Ghost as a production-ready car at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, they are busy testing the Ghost in Europe, and our snappers caught this virtually uncamouflaged Ghost patiently waiting to catch a ferry at Dover to sail to Calais.

There are still a few things on this Ghost designed to deceive the casual onlooker. There is no trademark Rolls Royce Grill; the Flying Lady is missing and the wheels, we hope, are not production ready. But apart from that, it looks a complete car. But one thing that did jar, and we hadn’t really noticed it at the launch, are the door mirrors. We’ve had a look back at the launch pictures of the Rolls Royce Ghost and, sure enough, it sports the same door mirrors. But in the wild they look odd. They seem somehow too big. Maybe its the ‘stalks’ they’re on that make them look clumsy, or maybe just the shape. Or maybe it’s just us!

But if the Ghost lives up to its promise, and comes close to being as good a car as the Phantom, little (big!) things like odd door mirrors aren’t going to stop it selling.
