Rolls-Royce teases new car for Geneva
Tue, 25 Feb 2014
Rolls-Royce is headed to the Geneva motor show with something new. From the teaser photo the company sent, we think that it will probably be the next Ghost sedan. It’s been nearly five years since the last Ghost launched in September of 2009.
The reason we say that, first off, is because the front end looks square. That rules out the Wraith, which seems to taper at the front. We’ve also ruled out, for now, the Phantom. The recent Phantom cars, except for the brand new ones, feature little round lights under the square headlights on the front fascia. This teaser does not. The Ghost is also the oldest model in the lineup right now, making it due for a redesign.
We are digging the cranberry color, though we’re sure Rolls has a better name for it than that, as well as the new-look headlights with a little teardrop effect at the corner.
Output of the last Ghost was rated at 563 hp and 575 lb-ft of torque from a 6.6-liter twin-turbocharged V12. An eight-speed automatic transmission sent power to the rear wheels.
We’ll find out more at the Geneva motor show next week.
