SPD and Volkswagen Group launch new program
Tue, 04 Sep 2012The Scuola Politecnica di Design and Volkswagen Group Design are continuing their partnership on the Transportation and Car Design Masters by offering a program including scholarships and employment opportunities for the very best candidates.
This project focuses on the theme of sustainable urban mobility as interpreted by Audi and Skoda. 20 million people are expected to visit Expo 2015 in Milan leading to congestion problems, and so VW Group wants to see a vehicle that is connected to the brand's concept of ‘freedom, versatility, and swift transport'.
The automaker wants proposals for advanced electrical car-sharing/car-rental ideas within the city's integrated transportation system that includes concept search, exterior and interior design, color and trim, usability, as well as physical and CAD-based mockups.
All students with a degree in Transportation Design, Car Design or the equivalent can apply for the scholarships, with the selection process involving a motivational interview, a portfolio assessment, and the evaluation of a student project assigned by the examination board. The winners will be jointly selected by SPD and VW.
As well as VW Group scholarships, high-potential students will also have the chance to earn internships and be employed at its Design Center upon completion of the Master's program. The program is organized into design workshops, theory lessons and integrated coursework, with physical and virtual modeling also involved.
The selection process is open for scholarships for the 2012-2013 academic year.
