Saab Museum cars for sale
Tue, 17 Jan 2012Saab Museum Cars up for grabs
The bankruptcy of Saab has resulted in the entire Saab Museum collection of 120 cars being offered for sale by the liquidators.
The final demise of Saab has meant much heartache for Saab’s employees, and lovers of the marque around the world, as more than 60 years of Saab’s history is consigned to the remnants bin – and that even includes Saab’s museum collection of cars, chronicling the history of Saab from 1946 to date.
But Saab fans with deep pockets – or one fan with very deep pockets – now have the chance to grab a slice of Saab’s history, as the entire Saab Heritage collection has been put up for sale by lawyers acting for the liquidators. Which is no surprise.
Back in September we reported that bailiffs had sequestered all the cars in Saab’s museum, slapping little legal stickers on all the cars on show proclaiming them seized assets. The cars weren’t removed – they stayed on show in the museum complete with ‘Seized Asset’ sticker – but it was clear which way the wind was blowing.
Now, after all Victor Muller’s machinations failed to secure a future for Saab, Delphi Lawyers have listed the entire collection on line for prospective buyers to view (Saab Museum Collection for sale pdf link). There’s everything from the original Ursaab to the Saab 9-X Concept by way of flatbeds and trailers and a plethora of historic Saab models.
Sadly, it seems the collection is destined to be broken up, despite the Mayor of Trollhattan’s previous assertion that the local council would stump up for the collection if it went on sale. It seems that’s not now going to happen, and quite right too; we’re sure Trollhattan has enough problems dealing with the big hole in the local economy, without stumping up for a car collection.
Sad to see.
