Salon Privé 2012 Preview

Salon Privé, the UK equivalent of Pebble Beach and Villa d’Este, moves to September this year and promises lots of interesting car goodness.
Salon Privé - that car show in London that your other half will enjoy – has the same problem as almost every other event in London 2012 – there’s too much going on.
What with the 2012 Olympics and the Diamond Jubilee there’s not much space left in the London ‘Season’ so Salon Privé has been moved to the back end and will run from September 5-7th. Mind you, with the summer weather in the last few years a move to September may mean better weather.
Big news for Salon Privé 2012 is probably a celebration of 25 years of the Ferrari F40 with at least 10 F40s expected to make an appearance and a Mercedes Gullwing celebration to mark 60 years with everything from 1950s Gullwings to the new Mercedes SLS.
Salon Privé has also persuaded Adrian Hamilton to divvy up his section of Gulf-liveried race cars for display at Syon Park. The 18-strong collection has never been seen in public before and includes everything from the first Gulf-liveried Le Mans car – a 1967 Mirage – up to a 2010 Lamborghini Gallardo.
There’ll be lots more stuff on display such as a selection of cars from the movies, including rare De Loreans and Bond cars, Jay Kay’s Ferrari 330 GT Vignale shooting brake, the Lamborghini Flying Star and an Aston Martin DB4 Bertone Jet.
All of the above – and more – will be preened and polished and presented in the grounds of Syon Park where you can car watch and people watch to your heart’s content whilst quaffing decent Champagne and scoffing succulent lobster.
A supercar show wrapped up in a social event that pleases car lovers and social butterflies alike.
