Scary cars: AutoWeek's trick or treat list

It wouldn't be Halloween without a little car fun. So we asked a couple of our writers to hand out their picks for "scary" cars.

First up: Kevin A. Wilson and his list of Screen Horrors.

Kevin says: "Maybe not the scariest cars ever, but neither are most Halloween costumes or supposedly 'scary' movies."

Christine: Stephen King's 1958 Plymouth Fury. Not a great book or film, but c'mon, you never felt possessed by a car?

The Delta's Deathmobile from Animal House: If cars went trick-or-treating, they'd dress like this and show up at your door. Give it a beer and this '64 Lincoln Continental will go quietly.

The 1960 Peterbilt 281 from Duel: Steven Spielberg's 1971 made-for-TV film stars Dennis Weaver and this tanker that still comes to mind whenever a semi looms too large in the rearview mirror (recently for sale here: www.motoexotica.com/inventory/2544/1960_Peterbilt_Tanker__.htm).

The Ford Mustang from Death Race: There are scarier-looking vehicles in this dumb flick, but this one has Jason Statham at the wheel.

The Mad Max Interceptor from Road Warrior: A 1973 XB GT Ford Falcon Coupe. If Jason Statham wants to be Mel Gibson, his Mustang wants to be Interceptor.

The 1928 Porter from My Mother the Car: How scary is your mom? How scary is your mom reincarnated into the body of an old car and living in your garage? AHHHHHH!

Porsche 911 GT3: Scary in that it may not allow you to retain a valid operator's license.

Honda Civic Si: Scary good wheels for the money.

Toyota Camry: Scary that it's probably a hazardous slow-moving chicane.

BMW X6 M: Scary that people actually buy them.

Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptor: Scary that the municipal coffers are drained.
