School run puts pressure on parents
Tue, 26 Nov 2013PRESSURED PARENTS are often operating the school run in a rush, according to a survey.
Many mothers and fathers worry about being late for work and have difficulty getting their children up in the mornings, the poll by insurance company Allianz showed.
As many as 42% of parents said feeling rushed was their main school-run worry, while 20% got distracted while driving their offspring to school.
Around 13% of mothers and fathers said they had too much to do in the mornings, with the routine taking an average of 75 minutes.
Top of parents' checklists for their children was the school bag, followed by homework and then lunch.
A total of 1,000 adults who drove children to school were questioned.
Jon Lott, of Allianz Your Cover Insurance, said: "Despite the morning rush, parents need to keep focused on the road to ensure they get to school safely.
"With over half (56%) of parents surveyed driving their children to school and a similar amount (54%) considering cars the safest way of getting their children to school, we encourage them to maintain their attention and keep the roads safe for everyone on the school run."
