Seat Announces Hot New Leon Pairing
Wed, 08 Jan 2014SPANISH car maker Seat has announced details of two hot hatch versions of its popular new Leon model.
The Leon Cupra and Cupra 280 variants boast 265 and 280 horsepower respectively, while the latter assumes the status of the most powerful Seat to date. Both are positioned above the current FR trim level.
Power for both Cupra models comes from the VW Group’s 2.0-litre TSI turbo petrol motor and buyers can choose from Seat’s three-door SC bodystyle or conventional five-door shape, although the latter is reserved for the hotter 280 model.
Changes to the basic Leon package to enhance the driving experience run to a mechanical locking differential, tuned suspension and stability control plus a cabin sound enhancer to boost the engine’s sound inside the cabin.
Differences between the two Cupra variants include a more aggressive-looking bodykit and larger alloy wheels for the 280 model, while buyers of this car can also opt for a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission.
Order books are open now in advance of March deliveries, with prices starting from £25,690 for a three-door Cupra and rising to £28,525 for a five-door Cupra 280 complete with DSG gearbox.
