Seat Leon Cup Racer revealed

Mon, 06 May 2013

Volkswagen’s Spanish daughter company, Seat, has unveiled the new Leon Cup race car. Set to get a public airing at this week’s Woethersee fan meet in Austria, the new front-wheel drive hatchback runs a heavily tuned version of parent company Audi’s EA888 turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine developing about 325 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque.

In standard guise, drive is channeled through a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Significant chassis modifications see the wheelbase, length and tracks extended.

The Leon Cup Racer will be offered to customers in ready-to-race form at a starting price of 70,000 Euros, or about $91,500, rising to 95,000 Euros, or $124,200, in endurance guise, in which its standard six-speed dual clutch gearbox is replaced by a sequential six-speed unit.
