The online multiplayer racing game Simraceway has partnered with the McLaren Group to bring virtual models of every McLaren made to gamers, developer Ignite Game Technologies said on Tuesday.
Simraceway will be a free-to-play online racing game that uses simulation-grade driving physics to provide a highly accurate driving simulator. The game will match racers by skill level to provide the best competition.
The partnership will be the first time that all 60 McLaren Formula One, Can-Am, sports and road cars will be digitized in the same video game. The list of cars includes Ayrton Senna's legendary MP4/4, the MP4-26 road car and the new MP4-12C.
"We're equal parts proud and humbled that McLaren has chosen Simraceway to become the largest licensor of its vehicles and a virtual custodian of its rich racing heritage," Ignite CEO Jonathan Haswell said in a company statment. "Creating a playable library of McLaren's complete line of celebrated race and road cars is a major step forward in our aim of pushing the racing game beyond the limits that have previously defined the genre."
Jonathan Neale, managing director of McLaren Racing, added, "Choosing Simraceway as our licensor for all 60 McLarens makes perfect sense. We're highly impressed with their gaming products, innovative technology and the drive of their people. We are very optimistic that this will represent the start of a successful cooperation between the two companies, and we look forward to seeing our rich and beloved heritage brought to life in the virtual world."
Simraceway is in the testing phase but an official release date has not been set.
