Skoda Fabia & Skoda Rooomster – the GreenLine II Eco versions
Sat, 08 May 2010The Skoda Fabia & Roomster GreenLine II
Skoda trollied out refreshed versions of the Skoda Fabia And Skoda Roomster at the Geneva Motor Show a few months back. Nothing to get hugely excited about, although in addition to the new nose there were also a new set of engines.
Having got the meat out of the way Skoda are now turning to the veg, with the announcement of the Skoda Rooomster GreenLine II and the Skoda Fabia Combi GreenLine II (snappy little names)to carry Skoda’s green credentials for the range.
Biggest news is that the Fabia and Roomseter get what looks like a cracking little engine from the VW stable. It’s the 1.2 litre 3-pot we reported on earlier this week that’s going in to the new Polo BlueMotion. It manages to deliver 75 horses, 83 mpg and CO2 emissions of just 89g/km (figures for the Fabia – the Roomster’s a bit more).
Both cars get the usual eco-toys to help tweak the running costs and emissions. They come complete with stop-start, braking energy recovery, aerodynamic tweaks, lower ride height and brake change light on the dash.
Not a bad buy the Fabia GreenLine II, especially if you live in town. It’ll be less than the Polo BlueMotion, although Skoda haven’t yet decided how much less.
We’ll keep you posted.
