Skoda Yeti Xtreme is yet another VW Group concept heading for Worthersee

The Skoda Yeti Xtreme (pictured) is another SEAT concept for Worthersee

The Skoda Yeti Xtreme has been revealed by Skoda as their second concept car heading for the Worthersee Show, but instead of a cute, open-top city car like the Skoda CitiJet we get a rufty-tufty Yeti with aspirations to go rallying. Cosmetically, the Yeti Xtreme gets a matt grey paint job, 17! alloys with off-roading tyres, tinted windows, a new front bumper with bigger air intakes, a bigger back bumper with dual exhausts and a set of LED lights.

The interior of the Yeti Xtreme has also been titivated with four Recaros complete with integrated four-point safety belts, sporty steering wheel with flappy paddles, carbon fibre and Alcantara trim with aluminium inserts as well as rally ‘tools’ like a belt cutter and fire extinguisher and more rally stuff in the boot including traction mats and recover tracks.

Performance comes from a 1.8 litre TSI with 150bhp and 184lb/ft of torque – enough for a 0-62mph of 9 seconds – driven to all four wheels through a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

The Yeti Xtreme also gets uprated brakes borrowed from the Octavia RS and the chassis height can be adjusted.

Skoda’s sales and marketing man, Werner Eichhorn, said:

…we are going to strengthen the emotional vibrancy of the brand. ŠKODA Yeti Xtreme – as a dynamic and powerful compact SUV concept – demonstrates the brand’s strong expertise in four-wheel drive technology, as well as our know-how when it comes to rally sports.

Despite that, it doesn’t look like the Skoda Yeti Xtreme points to a new model, but is purely an exercise to titillate the Worthersee crowd.
