Smart Fortwo Lightshine launches
Wed, 12 Jan 2011Yet another Smart Limited Edition - the Smart Fortwo Lightshine
You have to hand it to Mercedes – they don’t give up on Smart (or Maybach – another expensive departure). They keep churning out new cars (well, endless new limited editions, anyway) despite sales that seem to keep falling. Last year (2010) saw Smart sales in the UK fall by 8.5% and their sales last month (December 2010) were a woeful 57% down on December 2009.
But who knows, maybe this latest Smart ‘Limited Edition’ – The Smart Fortwo Lightshine – will change things. Or not, as Smart are only building 86 Fortwo Lightshine models for the UK.
Smart claim the Smart Fortwo Lightshine has the lowest Co2 emissions of any standard combustion engined car built. Its 0.8 litre 3-pot develops an earth-shattering 54bhp, and with CO2 emissions at just 86g/km it’s a good job they’re only selling 86 in the UK or our plant life might be endangered.
Based on the Passion spec, the Lightshine gets green matte bodywork, LEDs, new alloys and lots of ‘Lightshine’ badges. It also gets touchscreen SatNav, iPod connection and flappy paddles (all the better for controlling your 54bhp)
The Smart fortwo lightshine edition costs £11,405. Don’t all rush at once.
