Speakers confirmed for Interior Motives China Conference 2009
Mon, 22 Dec 2008Seven new speakers have been confirmed for the 2009 Interior Motives from Car Design News conference in Shanghai, which will run from 21st - 23rd April. Brought to you by the team behind Car Design News and its quarterly interior design publication, Interior Motives, the conference will take place immediately after the two Shanghai Auto Show press days, and bring together the biggest names in Chinese, Asian and Western car design for a two-day program of interactive debate.
Chaired by Director of the China Automotive Design Institute and former Nanjing Auto design director, Li-Chih Fu, this two-day summit will see some of the biggest names in the business gather in Shanghai to discuss the issues facing Western and Chinese carmakers searching for success in China. East will meet West as BATC/Beijing Auto's Executive Director of Design, Mr Shang, joins Geely's Head of R&D/Styling Mike Ma and the Design Director of Donfeng Motor, Zhen Su Lin, in debating the hot topics of 21st century car design. Lin will talk about the need for and challenges of establishing a 'C Factor' - China's answer to Japan's successful 'J Factor' design identity.
Also providing expert opinion on these issues will be Ed Wong, Director of Transportation Design at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. Wong will speak in the 'Effective Car Design Education' session on day two (23rd April). Day two will also see Filipe Braganca of China-based design consultancy Axius Designs take part in the 'Eco Design Future' session - a topic that's sure to be a source of heated debate.
Pininfarina Design Director Lowie Vermeersch will speak about the opportunities and challenges of researching in China. More influential industry leaders, design directors and experts in the Chinese design field will be added to the program in the coming weeks, so watch this space.
