The Subaru Impreza Concept wasn’t something we expected at the Los Angeles Motor Show last week, but it was welcome news nevertheless. The Impreza’s design has become tired and dated and needed an injection of something fresh, which the Impreza Concept certainly seems to offer.

Of course, the Impreza at LA is a concept car and gets some of the usual concept fripperies like cameras for mirrors and no discernible door handles, but the basic design stands up well and should be almost all there when it goes in to production. Which it will.

The overall design is on-trend but for us it does seem a bit derivative. We can certainly see a lot of Volvo influence at the front end and a lot of the rest of this Subaru Impreza looks quite generic. But that’s a damn sight better than looking plain old. Which the current Impreza does.

So as Subaru has sent us a video of the Impreza Concept – even if it is CGI – we thought we’d stick it up so you can judge for yourself if you think it’s a real improvement over the current model or not.
