Subaru prices WRX STI Special Edition at $35,565
Tue, 05 Feb 2013
The 2013 Subaru WRX Special Edition will cost $29,565 including a $770 destination charge while the upgraded WRX STI Special Edition will come in at $35,565 when they arrive at dealerships in spring. The Special Edition costs $500 more than the next highest-priced WRX trim.
All Special Editions will wear an orange-and-black paint scheme with black painted wheels, black front fender badging and black exterior mirrors.
Only 200 WRX sedans and 100 STIs will be produced for the year, all with dark interior trim, black headliner and orange stitching on the seats, doors and shift boot.
Mechanically, the Special Editions are identical to the sufficiently quick regular versions. Both examples use the company's 2.5-liter Boxer engine. The base WRX puts down 265 hp to all four wheels through Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system while the STI makes 305 hp. Manual transmissions are standard as is Subaru's Driver Controlled Center Differential, which allows drivers to push more power to the front or rear. The STI also gets Subie's SI-Drive that remaps the tuning for a sportier drive.
We're not sure if the 2013 Subaru WRX STI Special Edition will hit Hagerty's list of future collectables, but we'd pay 500 bucks for paint scheme alone.
