Supercar Video Test: LFA vs McLaren vs Aventador vs Veyron
Thu, 17 May 2012The ultimate supercar 1/4 mile shoot out
Automobile Magazine pits the McLaren MP4-12C against the Lexus LFA & Lamborghini Aventador and that against the Bugatti Veyron.
If you’re going to do a supercar shoot out it helps to have some of the best metal on the planet top play with. And that’s exactly what Automobile Magazine’s Jason Cammisa managed with an empty runway at his disposal and a quartet of the world’s most desirable supercars at his disposal.
The cheapest of the quartet is the McLaren MP4-12C, so Jason pits that against the least powerful of the cars here – the Lexus LF with its naturally aspirated V10 and a price tag that dwarfs everything but the Veyron.
Next up comes the McLaren taking on the Lamborghini Aventador. With a V12 against a V8, more horses and 4WD – and a much bigger price tag – a straight drag between the two is fairly predictable. But what would have happened on twisty stuff? That’s for another day.
Finally the mighty Aventador gets to go up against the even more mighty Veyron Grand Sport. Four times the price, 50 per cent power and a reputation as the fastest production car on the planet, the Veyron should blitz the Aventador.
But does it?
