Tax-return car deals

Automakers are offering cut-rate financing, cash back and lease deals just as our income-tax-refund checks are coming in the mail.

These timely tax-return car deals are paired with the necessity for automakers to make room on dealer lots for all-new models. (See the Cadillac CTS deals.)

Here, we break down some of the incentives being offered this month.

All incentives expire April 30.

Convertible: 2013 Jaguar XK Touring convertible

Spring has sprung, so it is prime time to take the top down on a new convertible. A 36-month lease on a 2013 Jaguar XK convertible in the base Touring trim offers the first month free after putting down $4,995 plus tax, title and fees paid at signing.

Coupe: 2013 Volkswagen Beetle Turbo

VW is offering a lease special or financing at 1.9 percent for 66 months on the 2013 Beetle line. Also this month, VW is giving current owners $1,000 off the purchase price of a new model.

Electric: 2013 Ford Focus Electric

Ford's offering incentives on its all-electric Focus. Get $2,000 cash back plus 0 percent financing for up to 60 months or financing at 1.9 percent for 72 months.

Wagon: 2013 Cadillac CTS wagon

Trailing the reveal of the next-generation 2014 Cadillac CTS sedan at the New York auto show, Caddy is offering incentives across the current CTS lineup, including the performance V series. Qualified buyers of the 2013 CTS wagon and CTS-V wagon can receive 0 percent financing for 36 months.

Minivan: 2013 Chrysler Town and Country

Chrysler's top-selling minivans are offering spring discounts. The Town and Country minivan, in the top-of-the-line Limited trim, is offered with $2,500 cash back, or 0 percent financing for up to 60 months, plus up to $1,000 cash back for well-qualified buyers. The base Touring and Touring-L models are available with $2,000 cash back, or 0 percent financing for up to 60 months, plus $500 cash back for well-qualified buyers.

Compacts: 2013 Mazda 3i SV

Purchase a 2013 Mazda 3i SV with automatic transmission and get 0 percent financing for 60 months and $500 cash back.

Crossovers: 2013 Kia Sorento

Kia is offering 0 percent financing for up to 60 months plus $1,000 cash back on all Sorentos, or 1.9 percent financing for up to 72 months plus $1,000 bonus cash.

Trucks: 2013 GMC Sierra 1500

GMC is offering incentives on their 2013 Sierra pickup truck before the redesigned 2014 Sierra goes on sale this spring. Get a total of $4,000 cash allowance for extended or crew cab models and $3,500 for regular cab Sierras. GMC is also offering 0 percent financing for 60 months plus $1,000 cash back if you finance with them. A low-mileage lease deal is also offered for qualified shoppers on the 2013 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE with the extended cab and 4WD.
